Surfers Against Sewage protest, Newquay
In 2021 UK Water Companies gave us 400,000 sewage discharges into streams, rivers and the seas, lasting 3 million hours! Very glad to be part of this protest and rail against this obscene situation.
The velvet-clad corporate iron fist
snuffs out independent thought
replaces with reductionist
tales of common sense
and demands for acquiescence...
The Talking Dead
26 Poets for COP 26
...children are rising from their desks
choosing survival over chemistry tests.
Fridays for Future is a student insurgency
at least they recognise an emergency
when they see one,
and so do Extinction Rebellion
who target lavish HQs
sticking it to Shell with cartons of glue...
'Code Red'
Warming: 26 Voices For Change
October 2021: A moving and inspirational afternoon in Falmouth passed in the company of poets, writers, friends and activists at the official launch of the 'Warming: 26 Voices For Change’.
‘Warming’ is a collection of beautifully crafted, thought provoking and timely pieces by 26 Cornwall based writers published ahead of COP 26. My poem 'Code Red' is number 18 in the collection.
Thank you Mac Dunlop and Megan Chapman for your hard work and for the opportunity and privilege to contribute.
Causley Festival 2021
.jpg)
This year the Causley Festival of Arts & Literature hosted 'Notes of Dissent'.
If you missed the event in July why not watch on YouTube?
I take you on a spoken word journey describing and asking tough questions of dominant political and economic systems at a time of deepening environmental and social crisis.
It is a punchy, poignant, wry-humoured journey with these challenging themes punctuated with pieces that celebrate the restorative beauty of the Cornish north coast.
